Gunjay Villa: A Modern and Luxurious Residential House

Designing a Plush Home with Clean Lines and Minimalist Aesthetics

Gunjay Villa, designed by Behzad Kharas, is a stunning example of modern architecture and interior design. Situated in Nashik, India, this residential house stands out for its clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and luxurious features. With a focus on maximizing space utilization and incorporating unique design elements, Gunjay Villa offers a truly exceptional living experience.

The inspiration behind Gunjay Villa was to create a house that is modern, stylish, and luxurious, while also being practical and functional. The design team aimed to minimize wastage of space and create a clean and organized layout. The use of wood throughout the house adds warmth, especially during colder months. Italian marble, veneer mirror patterns, and textured surfaces enhance the tactile experience of the design.

One of the unique features of Gunjay Villa is the clever use of beveled mirrors to camouflage certain elements in the space. For example, in the living room, the main door and guest door are seamlessly integrated into the mirror paneling, creating a visually stunning effect. Customized furniture and soft furnishings were carefully selected to complement the overall design and create a cohesive look.

The project encompasses a 5-bedroom villa situated in a dense urban area with varying temperatures throughout the day. The design takes into consideration the sensitivity of the surroundings and the climate. With its modern contemporary architecture, straight lines, and clear circulation, Gunjay Villa maximizes the utility of its small plot size (6000 sq ft).

The interior design process for Gunjay Villa involved a meticulous approach. Straight lines and clean geometric forms were combined with elements that break away from geometry to create surprises and add visual interest. Each wall's composition was carefully considered in relation to the entire room, with detailed elements like headboard walls and simpler designs elsewhere. The design was sketched, converted into drawings, and then executed to bring the vision to life.

Gunjay Villa is a testament to the designer's ability to overcome various challenges. The site had limited privacy due to its location, and the surrounding buildings restricted the number of windows on the north and south sides. The architecture and interiors were designed to maintain privacy while allowing natural light and cross ventilation. Material selection was critical to ensure insulation and reduce heat gain.

The interiors of Gunjay Villa reflect the architectural language of the house, with clean lines, simplicity, and understated luxury. The bedrooms, including the master, guest, and mother's bedrooms, exude a minimalist charm with the use of veneer and fabric to create warmth. The central courtyard features a Japanese table, a green wall, and a lawn, providing a serene and green experience within the enclosed structure. The kids' bedrooms showcase their personalities with the use of colors, while still maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic.

Gunjay Villa has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and technical characteristics.

Gunjay Villa is a true masterpiece, combining modern architecture, luxurious interiors, and innovative design elements. It exemplifies the designer's ability to create a home that reflects the lifestyle and preferences of its inhabitants, while also considering the surrounding environment and climate. Gunjay Villa is a testament to the power of design to enhance the way we live and experience our homes.
